Pink Squirrel Farmstead CHRISTMAS 🎄

We have had the farm for about 3 1/2 years now.

There have been lots of changes along the way. If any of you, reading this knows anything about me, then you will now my absolute favorite holiday is Christmas 🎅. And it took us 1,250 longgggg days to finally have Our First Christmas 🎄 at the Farm !!

Chad was able to get 2 weeks off from work 🎉

So we had the opportunity to go to the farm to work on a few projects and enjoy Christmas and New Year’s at the farm.

We gave Dad his present 🎁 in a box that about 20 or screws to remove to open it up 😇

It was nice to see my parents and Hunter for Christmas this year, it’s been several years since we actually had Christmas together on Christmas Day🎄

We got Mom, a Christmas Card that once you open it up, it plays a dog barking Christmas songs non stop. Only way to stop it, is by ripping it open (which was full of confetti) to take out the batteries 😇

We had fun opening up our gifts and having lots of laughs.

For several years now, as a running joke I get my Dad a Hawaiian 🌺 shirt with my beautiful face upon it 🤩 This is the loudest colorful one, I got him so far yet 🤣
Carla got Hunter a Ramen Noodle 🍜 bowl
Chad got me some squirrels Door Hinge Toppers 🥰
They are just the cutest !
I adore the Small lil details 😍
Hunter got himself a Computer Monitor Mask (he enjoys going to Cosplay events with his friends) Chad had to “see” what the mask was like 🤣🤣🤣🤣

My favorite part of being at the farm for the holidays, was cooking a nice holiday meal in my ginormous kitchen.

Dad has made a lot of progress with building all the cabinets from scratch.

Dad finished most of the cabinets, only two more to build !!
Chad, Cheyenne, and I, oiled all the wood on the cabinets. (Left is oiled, right is not) I just love how it made the wood grain and worm holes pop !

While making Christmas Dinner, I was able to fine tune the exact design and details I wanted for my kitchen island 🥰. The Island, is going to take a lot of work to complete. The top will be a solid hardwood butcher block. It is going to be almost 6 foot wide and 7 foot long once it’s completed

It will have 1 shelf
Three sides will have cabinet doors
CoCo supervising progress
Two sides will have 6 electric outlets and 2 usb spots. Both are on separate breakers, so I can have several kitchen gadgets going at the same time.
I truly just love 💗 doing projects with my Hubby. We just like being around each other and chit chatting
It will have a foot and 1/2 over hang on the right side for bar stools
I just LOVE this color blue and the old time farmhouse hinges 😍

I can already envision myself, rolling out pie crust and cookie dough and playing board games around the island with the family.

It makes my heart warm just the thought of what memories are going to be made in this kitchen of my dreams !

We also had the chance to finally finish the upstairs bathroom!!

CoCo exhausted from supervising all week

While we were in Kentucky we went to one of our favorite places in Morehead the Piddlers Mall. It’s a combination of crafts booths and antique booths. We had the chance to find a ton of antiques.

Chad found a bunch of vintage items for his Apothecary Cabinet
Found Carla several Penguin 🐧 items ! (she almost likes penguins as much as I love squirrels 🐿️!!)
A little squirrel 🐿️ came to visit me on the porch 💗
Poor Coco was plum wore smooth out from napping 😴 all day long

Most likely you have never heard of an international food market named Jungle Jims in Cincinnati Ohio. Unless you read my previous blog post about it. Last time I was at the farm I went to the first location. Chad has not been to either one, so this time I, decided to take him to the one I hadn’t been to, so it would be a new experience for us all! It is incredibly large and has different sections from countries around the world. We enjoyed going there for the day and getting out and about. If you never heard of it before, there is a ton of YouTube videos and TicTok videos about it (hence how we learned about it) this is where Hunter found several exotic items for us to try. Jungle Jims only has these 2 locations on different sides of Cincinnati. Both of these locations are very different from each other so it is a unique experience to see them both !

My dad loves real hot sauce. So Chad makes it a mission to find him the hottest sauce ever for him to try. Found him 3-4 different ones (Dad even broke a sweat after just one drop of one of them)
Cheyenne enjoyed Jungle Jims
“Shark Bait, Oh ha ha !”

Not only does it sell food and other grocery stores products but it also has a ton of animatronic displays and other things to look at. All in all it is a fun little get away where you can spend all day long browsing. (actual it is bigger than 200,000 sq ft)

Hunter likes to try “exotic foods” so one day we had Camel 🐫 meat sloppy Joes for lunch
Not sure 🤔 what he thinks about good ole fashioned 🐪 camel meat sloppy joes
Hunter prepared Curry Goat Meat Stew. (I declined his offer to taste this delicacy)
Mom even attempted to make an exotic loaf a bread. We liked to refer it to “LaJill’ El Burnedito” Actually we had mom go to town to get pizzas one day and she forgot she had bread baking in the oven. LOL 🤣
While at the piddlers mall, Chad found a vintage brass fire extinguisher 🧯. He teased mom that he put it in the kitchen “just in case she made anymore exotic breads” 😇

We decided while in Cincinnati, to try some grub that we don’t have in the huge metropolis of Childress TX. We found a neat little Mediterranean Cafe to try out. Chad and Hunter both had a lamb gyro. Cheyenne had tomato basil feta soup. I indulged myself with a wonderful salmon and Basmati rice dish. This cafe was delicious 🤤

We also had the chance to finish up most of the office space that connects the library to my sewing room

Still need to finish frame outs on the door ways & put permanent carpet down, but it is mostly finished. I choose to divide my sewing room into two separate rooms because I wanted to have different use for both sides of the room. I don’t sew all of the time so I didn’t want to have a huge room tied up just for that purpose. I have decided I want to find a pretty floral wall paper to put on the ceiling of my sewing 🧵 room. (Darn you Instagram and Pinterest)

Also we plan on making a huge crafting area in the basement for all of us to be able to utilize.

The entire time we were at the farm I was hoping that it would ⛄️ snow. Most days the weather was raining and warmer than normal. And just with my luck 🍀 it finally snowed for a few minutes about an hour before we had to leave to head back to Texas. ❄️

Cheyenne and Coco enjoying looking out the window.
This tunnel is Cheyenne’s favorite part of the trip
One of these trips we need to stop and check out the St Louis arch

We made it home to Texas about 1 am and just so you know as soon as we hit Oklahoma Chad points out EVERY SINGLE BRAUMS!!! We don’t ever stop there on our trip but he just points them out just to be a pain in the butt….. I know you are surprised 😂. We can’t wait to go back again soon, so time to start planning out and saving for our next trip.
