New Year, New Adventures

Life has been busy lately with the holidays, doctors appointments and preparing for Payton and RoRo to move to the farm. 2025 has been wonderful and challenging and I hope 2026 is a better health year.

Christmas was wonderful and with having Ro here for his First Christmas I realized how much fun it is to have a little one around during the holidays.

I have been trying to learn to sew and I wanted to make Roman a stocking that he could grow up with. I can guarantee that it was made with love and not perfection. I think it turned out decent and then made one for Cheyenne and Payton. With each one I learned a bit more and did better than the previous.

I usually do a bunch of baking and cooking around the holidays but I didn’t do much of it this year due to my headaches. We did decide to cheat on our Christmas dinner and just had to heat it up from the Cotton Patch, it was delicious and I am not mad about it at all. I did try making a braided wreath bread that turned out pretty well and a peach breakfast pastry.

Roman and I did some crafting and used some air dry clay to make some ornaments with his hands and feet. He knows not to fight it because Oma is not gonna give up, so he just lets me.

We all went to a Christmas festival in Lubbock so Ro could meet Santa and while there we saw some fabric snowflakes that were so pretty, I immediately looked them up on Pinterest so I could make them. They looked like they were going to be so difficult to make but in all actuality they were pretty easy.

I made marshmallows again this year and of course Roman didn’t mind being my official taste tester, he gave them a 10/10.

For Christmas I got a pattern set for making teddy bears, puppy dogs, and cats. Over a year ago I bought large sections of fabric on clearance for like $5 and thought what the heck, I am going to just bite the bullet and try it. I was so worried that I was going to completely mess it up. After pinning the pattern to the fabric I realized that I had the fabric folded so I unpinned it and started over. Then half way through repinning it I realized why I originally had it folded (I needed two of that piece), but I just continued because it’s not like I couldn’t use the practice.

After all the pinning, and cutting out the fabric I was exhausted. I had to go rest for a while and then came back to work on it again. I was excited that I made a whole stuffed animal, it didn’t look like the picture on the pattern but it was finished and I knew RoRo would love it. He even gave it slobbery kisses.

I’m sure you can guess which one is mine 😂
Slobber kisses on its head lol 💕

I am very reluctant a lot of the time to try some new stuff because I am worried that I will mess it up and waste money on the product to fail. I have been like this not only with sewing but also with baking, I don’t know why but it’s just a feeling. Chad constantly encourages me to do it and if it doesn’t work then throw it away and try again. I have been doing that lately and I have been successful and I have had failures. This year is going to be my “I can do it” year. Do you ever feel this way?

Welcome 2026!!

Happy New Year Everyone! I hope you all have a wonderful and blessed year ahead.
