Sneak Peek Photos

Here are a few pictures from around the farm because I cannot contain my excitement. I won’t post any photos of the house until after closing. We are beyond excited and cannot wait to share more.

My dad took this picture while we were talking to the agent, you can see the traffic going by.

Isn’t it just perfect?

The Viewing

We were scheduled to meet with the realtor at 11 on the 21st of June. My dad is a morning person…. Like wakes up at the but crack of dawn (5 am) kind of morning person. I am not. Mind you we are now in eastern time zone not the central that I am used to. Anyways sleepy me gets up and we go to breakfast at Waffle House. This was such an amazing start to our day. The staff was exceptional! Crystal our server was a hoot. My dad is a veteran and asked if they had a discount for his service and they did. The person in the booth behind us even paid for our breakfast. We felt very welcome in the state of Kentucky. Way to go Kentucky on your hospitality! After breakfast we drive from Lexington to Hillsboro an hour away, it is now only 8am.

Of course, we are too excited to not drive by the house……yes like creepers…rolled down the window and drove like 2 mph past the house. We literally drove by the house like 10 times prior to our 11 am appointment time. Don’t act like you wouldn’t do the same thing.

We still had a couple hours to kill so we drove around and explored the area. We were not the only ones excited, Chad (my husband), Carla (my sister-in-law) and Jill (my mom) were all chomping at the bit remotely. We found a couple covered bridges…. I will touch more on that another day…… a bunch of small towns all around. Everyone was so nice. There was an adorable older gentleman on his lawn mower working on his yard, and every single time I drove by him he waved. Several of the roads circle around and I drove down the road several times. I am already in love with the area. I love the vibe in the area and how sweet everyone is.

It is now 10:45 finally time to go to our appointment…… of course I was only like 3 minutes away. I got there pulled up next to the barn to wait for the realtor to get there. Luckily, she showed up about 2 minutes after us. Went in the barn first and looked around, then we went to the house. As soon as we got in the house Chad called via facetime so he could see the house too. I could not imagine the feeling of not being able to see it in person. I am so thankful that he trusts my opinion and my dad’s knowledge on quality of the structure. I could have spent days looking over everything but I didn’t want to get my hopes up quite yet, as the housing market is crazy right now. We went back down to the barn and talked with the agent in private. We made an offer on the house, the realtor would drive back to her office and start on the paperwork. This was now the scariest time waiting to hear from the realtor.

The Search

This is the beginning of our forever. We have been searching high and low for the best place to have our forever farm. We talked to so many realtors and none of them wanted to help us out. Finally, I turned to TikTok for help. I contacted a realtor on there that had posted a new video. I sent her a message asking if she would be willing to be our agent and that we were from out of state. She messaged me back asking me to call her to discuss what we were looking for. Then my husband got a call letting him know he had been promoted at work and we were moving 4 hours away. We currently live in a 5th wheel since we move frequently with my husband’s job. So, our farm hunting had been put on hold. The moving process was quite the adventure, by the way I hate loathe moving. Things always break, and it is just a stressful time. I contacted the realtor and let her know if would be a few weeks before I could contact her.

Fast forward a few weeks, I finally called our realtor. She was so wonderful and took a ton of notes on what we were looking for and said she was on the way out of town on vacation but was excited to work with us. Unfortunately for her I am quite an inpatient person.  On June 18th, I sent her a listing for a property that was a major fixer-upper, she set up an appointment for us to view it but since I was driving to Kentucky from Texas, I wanted to have a backup property to look at too. So, I sent her a second one that we were absolutely in love with by the pictures.      After seeing additional pictures and reading the sellers disclosure we decided the first property was not for us. We were still hopeful on the second property. I packed up and set out first thing in the morning. Unfortunately, my husband was not able to join me but I stopped by and got my dad (David) to take a look with me. I know how to look at all the cosmetic stuff but I have no idea what to look for structurally. I drove to my parents’ house 9 hours away because I had to pick up my daughter (Payton) from camp along the way. We got to my parents that evening and set out first thing the next morning, which was also Father’s Day and my dad’s birthday. My dad is the best, I am so glad he was willing to ride with me for 15 hours one way just to go look at the house.

Welcome

Welcome to a place covered in flour, chicken feathers, and paint. Okay, so maybe that’s just Carla’s Craft room or Casey’s Kitchen.

This is where we will share a little too much of our life and our journey to the Pink Squirrel Farmstead!

We will also showcase products that we have available for purchase.

We are so excited for you to come join us on this adventure!
