Spring is almost here

Spring is getting so close, I can almost taste it. Or maybe it’s just the dust from all the high winds we have had lately here in Texas. We have had a few nice days lately and it just makes me want to start planing my garden.

Chad built me a new cabinet for my office/craft room and I just love it! He took the time to find the perfect latch, and hinges. Luckily we both have the same taste in furniture. He made it look rustic and worn and he did an amazing job!

On the farm my dad has been putting up electric fence around where we want to keep the goats. Pictures are hard to show the electric fence. He did get Hunter to touch the electric fence a few times. And one of the time he said it didn’t work so my dad touched it and it shocked him pretty good. The first controller purchased didn’t work as good as we would like so he returned it and got another. I know absolutely nothing about electric fences so this is all new to me.

Here in Texas we have been starting some seeds for the garden and some flowers. They are doing great! We also purchased some small bell pepper plants and they had teeny tiny aphids on them. We quickly did a google search and found out to spray them down with soapy water. I meticulously squished all the bugs I could find and Chad vigorously sprayed them down.

At the farm dad and mom have also been getting the garden ready. Mom has some plants starting in the house and dad has been tilling up the ground. They have even seen a critters around the farm. He has also been working on the fence around the garden. There are a few wild rose bushes that were right on the fence line that had to be chopped down to fix the fence posts.

Grape plants
Grapes will be planted along this fence line.

They purchased a few more baby chicks to add to the flock. Hunter has been making sure they get lots of snuggles and turned them in to a plate of chicken nuggets. Hunter also has a new cat that moved in with his barn kittens. Hunter just recently had a birthday and turned 19!!! I cannot believe my baby boy is 19! Man they grow up so fast!!

In addition, dad lowered the coffee/tea/cocoa bar so mom doesn’t need a stool to make dad his coffee now. Hopefully winter is done and spring is here to stay!

This cabinet was in the house when we purchased it. We plan to keep it in the house but maybe somewhere else later on.
I wanted to plant a couple fruit trees along this fence but I thing blueberry bushes will be a much better fit.

We are hoping to get some fruit trees planted this spring, up passed the garden. The orchard will be approximately 100’x100’. I sure wish I was on the farm to help out. the gravel has all been spread and the grass is already peeling through! I just love how green the grass is!

The roads are now a little less safe, Payton got her permit and is learning to drive! But she is very excited to have gotten her permit. What an exciting time for her! congratulations Payton!!
