The month of July was a whirlwind of nonstop busyness. With the excitement of having baby piglets on the farm, it was fun to watch as they grew, and their personalities developed. Roman enjoyed playing in the water and getting into everything per the norm.
I have been procrastinating long enough, and I made the decision to go ahead and put down the new flooring in the Butler’s pantry. I knew it was not gonna be an easy task because I have a lot of kitchen gadgets in there and I had to take out the countertops and shelving to put the flooring in. I decided to split it up into 3 days. On the first day I completely cleaned it out and removed the shelves. Then I needed to remove all of the temporary flooring we had put in and lay down the moisture barrier. On day two my dad and I put in the flooring, which is no easy task. Lastly, on day three Dad tried his best to put the shelving and counter countertops back the way they were before while I went to Lowe’s to get paint to touchup everything before putting everything back in. I actually like the part of re-organizing in the pantry. I love when everything has its own dedicated spot.
This year was the first year that Roman got to celebrate the Fourth of July. We went to Maysville that put on an amazing parade and fireworks display over the Ohio river. I was not sure how he would react with the sound and being up way past his bedtime. But, he loved waving his flag and watching the parade and while we were headed down to find our spot next to the river, there was a DJ playing loud music and he instantly started dancing, it was absolutely adorable.
You know I love Christmas and I thought it was really neat that they are filming a Christmas movie in Maysville called “All that glitters at Christmas”. Parts of the downtown area was decorated even with fake snow in July and was really neat to see.
Cheyenne was extra excited this month because she was accepted to go to an adult special needs camp. Each day on our way home from camp she talked nonstop about how amazing camp was. I love that She had this opportunity and made some friends. There are not many opportunities like this for adults with special needs. I applied for her to go to this camp, but did not tell her about it until after she was accepted because I did not want her to get her hopes up if it wasn’t gonna be able to happen. She is already excited about it for next year.
Roman enjoys riding on the lawnmower and gets mad if he hears it start up and he isn’t on it. He doesn’t care for wearing hats but I told him he couldn’t go mow without a hat on so he didn’t fuss about wearing it.
The piglets are growing so fast and are so stinkin cute! If I had the time I would just sit and watch them play.
We went to the Cave Run Lake to relax and enjoy the day. It was Ro’s first time going to the lake and he acted like he had been a gazillion times before. I like that it had a beach area, we are definitely going to have to find our lawn chairs to bring next time.
We piddled around the farm for most of the rest of the month. My mom celebrated her birthday by going on a captains cruise and enjoyed every bit of it.
Roman and I headed to Pittsburgh to visit Chad while he was there for a work conference. We toured the Heinz Museum.we also got to meet up with Landon and this was the first time he got to meet Roman. It was nice to see him a few times while we were there. We got to stay and visit until the first weekend in August. We met up with Landon for breakfast and went to the National Aviary. Roman and I went sightseeing and met up with Chad for dinner at a German restaurant.
